Elon Musk‘s cost-cutting team is eliminating jobs at the vehicle safety agency that oversees Tesla and has launched investigations into deadly crashes involving his company’s cars.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has cut a “modest” number of positions, according to a speech from the company. Musk has accused NHTSA of halting self-driving technology’s development through its recounts and studies. Staffing cuts have resulted from a combination of layoffs, buyouts, and layoffs.
When asked whether the agency’s cuts would have an effect on Tesla’s Tesla investigations, it stated that it would “enforce the rules on all motor vehicle and gear manufacturers.”
