Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, has claimed that the left is in panic over the defeat of US President Donald Trump, accusing liberals of being hypocritical and global liberals of being badly called a” danger to democracy.”
Speaking via videolink at the Conservative Political Action Conference ( CPAC ) in Washington DC on Saturday, Meloni praised Trump and US vice president JD Vance while criticising “elites” and left-wing politicians.
The Italian PM argued that the Left’s anger had turned into “hysteria” following Trump’s return to power, not only because liberals were winning votes but because they were then working jointly worldwide. She said that when Bill Clinton and Tony Blair established the world’s first leftist liberal network in the 1990s, they were known as” statesmen.”
” Immediately, when Trump, Maloni, Millay or even Modi chat, they are called a threat to democracy. Despite all the dirt they throw at us, this is the last double common, but we are used to it. The good news is that people no longer feel in rests. Citizens keep voting for us”, she added.
Meloni refuted any suggestion that Trump’s presidency would rift the liberal movement, calling him a strong leader. Knowing President Trump as a strong and effective head, she said,” I bet that those who hope for divisions will be proven wrong.”
Meloni even defended JD Vance, who faced criticism for his speech at the Munich Security Conference, where he said Europe’s greatest danger came “from within”. Meloni dispelled the criticism, claiming liberal elites were uneasy with liberals making outright claims about identification and democracy. ” Vice President Vance was discussing something deeper: personality, politics, liberty of speech”, she said.
European opposition leaders called for Meloni’s involvement in CPAC to be canceled. The discussion arose following former Trump assistant Steve Bannon’s speech at the event, in which he made an apparent Nazi-style salute. Elly Schlein, the head of the Democratic Party, blasted CPAC as a “neo-fascist meeting” and urged Meloni to disband from it. But, Meloni went away with her conversation, aligning herself with the traditional motion and dismissing left-wing criticism.
She reiterated her support for a traditional style of government and said,” We serve the people, we do not tip over them.”
