
Before the politician’s statement at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference outside of Washington, D.C., met with U.S. President Donald Trump quickly before the latter’s meeting with the president on Saturday.
The White House stated in a condensed version of the meeting that” Backstage at CPAC, President Trump met with Polish President Andrzej Duda and reaffirmed our near empire.” President Trump also praised President]Andrzej Duda ] for Poland’s dedication to improve their defense spending”.
In his CPAC statement, Trump also praised Duda, calling him” a great person and a great friend of mine.”
Poland, a close ally of the United States, has publicly supported Trump’s request for NATO nations to enhance their defence spending to 5 % of GDP. The previous aim, which 24 of the 32 NATO member nations have met, was set at 2 %.
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, who is addressing Trump’s opening, said the U.S. leader” should not be criticized for setting a truly ambitious target because there will be some countries that may continue to debate whether more spending is actually necessary.”
