After “light smoke and fire” were discovered at the Vistra Moss Landing Power Plant and Energy Storage Facility, people in Monterey County, California, were issued a caution to close their doors and windows on Tuesday night. The service, which is one of the largest lithium-ion cell backup facilities in the world, just experienced a big fire in January.
Public Safety Agencies are in Unified Command due to the light smoke and fire at the Vistra Battery Facility in Moss Landing, according to an evacuation notice sent to Monterey County people. Unified Command is keeping an eye on the situation, and society air quality, particulate matter, and metals monitoring is ongoing.
The update added,” Out of an abundance of caution, health authorities urge residents to near windows and doors immediately. Changes will be forthcoming”.
The Vistra Moss Landing Power Plant and Energy Storage Facility was recently the subject of a massive blaze in January that caused evacuations because of concerns about potential risks posed by the smoke from the fire.

Another notice sent to people on Tuesday, according to CBS News, explained that the fire appeared to be coming from the similar location as the one that broke out at the hospital on January 16 and was discovered at around 6:30 p.m. The notice also indicated that none of the batteries that remained intact after the initial fire in January did not appear to become burning any of them on Tuesday.
The Vistra Moss Landing Power Plant and Energy Storage Facility’s large fire, according to CBS News, was first out of control as a result of the inner fire suppression system malfunctioning.
A video shared on X, previously Online, shows the huge fire at the lithium-ion cell service.
After the Elkhorn Slough Resources burned for several days in January, researchers from San José State University’s Moss Landing Marine Laboratories discovered higher levels of heavy metal. The outlet noted that the earth around the cell service was found to possess increased levels of chromium, nickel, and iron.
” They are obviously the type of materials from a battery, so you can link instantly the incident increasing of this dangerous heavy metal to the cause, which is a battery”, Dr. Ivano Aiello, head of San José State’s Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, told KQED. The body of scientific information is very strong, in my opinion. There is no other way to explain why those parts are related to those nanoparticles even though they were much lower before they are much higher, and those components are then linked to those levels.
