As he prepares to join US President Donald Trump after this week, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Monday that Russia “does not carry all the accounts” in the Ukraine war and stressed the importance of Kyiv’s participation in any peace talks.
Speaking almost at a mountain of Western leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, marking three decades since Russia’s full-scale war, Starmer said:” I have a very basic, clear text now: the UK is with you”.
” This is a time for unity. We must collaborate to form the goal at this critical time as negotiations begin. Russia does not have all the answers in this conflict. Because Russia’s economy is in trouble, and because they have lost the benefit of their property troops and their Black Sea Fleet in this meaningless invasion, “Ukrainians have the confidence to support their state,” he continued.
Starmer praised Zelenskyy’s management and shared a message from a patient Oil who he met in a fires unit while recently in Kyiv.
” He said to me’ if Ukraine fails, Europe may become future’. And that is what is at stake around”, the PM said.
” That is why we will always be with Ukraine and our friends for a simply and lasting tranquility,” he continued.
The British Prime Minister, set to meet with Trump in Washington DC on Thursday, said that Trump had” changed the world talk” regarding the ongoing issue, stating that this transition has” created an option” to take the war to an end.
” It has created an option. We had now correct the elements. Ukraine must have a seat at the table if we want harmony to experience, and any resolution may be based on a royal Ukraine supported by strong protection warranties, the prime minister said.
A US tarp will be essential to hinder Russia from starting a new war in just a few years, according to the UK, who is ready and willing to help this with troops on the ground, with another Europeans, and with the proper conditions in location. So we will do everything in our power to ensure that Ukraine and the world benefit from it both,” he continued.
Starmer called for the West to “increase the tension actually more” on Russia and proposed a fresh round of UK restrictions against the nation.
He argued that a “lasting peacefulness” could only be achieved by putting more military force behind Ukraine and enforcing stricter sanctions against Moscow.
According to BBC, on Monday, the UK unveiled more than 100 new restrictions targeting individuals and entities aiding Russia’s invasion, including firms in China, the largest supplier of essential items to Moscow’s war.
However, the Home Office has expanded travel restrictions on Kremlin-linked leaders.
