Former Secret Service agent turned liberal commentator Dan Bongino has been appointed by US President Donald Trump as the new assistant director of the FBI.
According to Bongino’s powerful social relationships and his history in law enforcement, the announcement was made on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
Before joining the Secret Service, Bongino, 50, worked on the safe details of President George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He previously worked with the New York police department. After leaving state support, he transitioned into social commentary, becoming one of the most prominent voices in right-wing media. His audio, The Dan Bongino Show, consistently receives more social media views than conventional press retailers like Fox News and CNN.
Trump hailed Bongino’s nomination as “great information for Law Enforcement and British Fairness”. He praised the country’s commitment to the state and praised the country’s commitment to leave his very successful podcast to take the position. ” Dan has a Masters Degree in Psychology from C. U. N. Y., and an MBA from Penn State. He was a part of New York’s Finest Police Department. Trump is ready and prepared to give up in order to serve, according to Trump, a highly regarded Special Agent with the US Secret Service and a former member of the country’s top panelists.
Bongino responded to the interview in a post on X, saying,” Bless you Mr President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel”.
A dedicated Trump supporter
Bongino has long been a vocal supporter of Trump and a fierce critic of the government’s competitors. He has been a key member of the Make America Great Again ( MAGA ) movement and has unsuccessfully run for Congress three times. His radio frequently includes jokes about liberals, like as” Trump Keeps Delivering And The Mofs Are Seething.”
His nomination as FBI assistant director is important because it places two Trump backers at the top of the organization. Despite criticism from two Democratic senators and all of the Senate Democrats, Ash Patel, a close alliance of the leader, was re-elected as director of the FBI last week. Trump described Patel as” the best ever Director” and indicated that, alongside solicitor general Pam Bondi, the pair had take” Fairness, Justice, Law and Order back to America, and fast”.
Bongino’s session does not involve Senate assurance, ensuring he will take up the role quickly. His new boss, Patel, has pledged to” clean up” the organization and has blasted worries that the administration will use the FBI to target political adversaries.
Breaking custom
Bongino’s nomination breaks with the FBI’s long-standing history of having profession agents serve as lieutenant chairman. Usually, the second-in-command is responsible for the agency’s everyday law enforcement operations. Prior to now, the FBI Agents Association had demanded that Patel maintain the position in the rates of FBI professionals working in the field. But, Bongino has not worked for the FBI.
Patel, who has previously criticized the FBI’s prior investigations into Trump, has pledged to alter the organization by concentrating on standard crime-fighting initiatives and moving hundreds of employees from Washington. In addition, Bogino has been a vocal critic of federal law enforcement, particularly in relation to how they handled the 2020 election and Secret Service activities.
Beyond legislation enforcement
Beyond his legislation enforcement occupation, Bongino has developed a reputation as a violent politician. He usually has an argument with his critics, including a long-running feud with Stephen King, a horror author.
His popularity in the conventional media increased after Rush Limbaugh passed away, with some referring to him as the late radio large. He quickly hosted a radio program in Limbaugh’s previous role before turning his attention to his radio, which is still one of the most well-known on platforms like Spotify.
Despite his press victory, Bongino has remained socially active. Last season, he interviewed Trump and urged him to revolution the Secret Service, calling it a “failed” company. He was especially important of security breaches following the deaths of Trump in the wake of two assassinations.
Democrats have raised warnings about the politicisation of the FBI under Trump, Bongino’s backers see his appointment as a shift to recover the department’s trust. Trump concluded his statement by saying,” What an extraordinary job Dan will do!!” and expressed complete confidence in his decision. “!
