President Emmanuel Macron issued a warning to the United States on Monday while urging Washington to play a significant role in ensuring serenity in Ukraine. His remarks were made while he was in Washington, where he met with US President Donald Trump.
In an interview with Fox News, Macron said,” You may have a trade war with China and Europe at the same time. Concerned members of the Trump administration are worries about the administration’s pledge to impose massive taxes on both economic blocs.
Macron reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to spending more money on security in his debate with Trump, while calling for a” strong” US role in ensuring a long-term peace settlement in Ukraine. “Kyiv may be involved” in any agreements to end the conflict, he stated.
Macron stated that the US president had” excellent reason” to engage with Moscow in response to Trump’s recent exchange with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but that any decision may include security guarantees. At a joint press conference with Trump, he said,” There is good reason for President Trump to re-engage with President Putin.”
Macron took a strong stance against Russia away of his conference with Trump, refuting any statements that Ukraine had started the conflict. ” For three decades, Ukraine has fought with confidence that directions respect against an aggressor, Russia”, he wrote on X. ” Our aid for Ukraine will be unwavering”.
Macron even cautioned that any peace deal may not appear at Ukraine’s price. ” This tranquility may indicate the retreat of Ukraine”, he declared at the joint news event, warning against a world where the “law of the strongest” prevails.
