A petition calling for the renewal of Elon Musk’s American citizen has garnered more than 250, 000 names as of Tuesday, accusing the billionaire tech magnate of undermining Canada’s independence. Musk, who holds American citizenship through his family, Maye Musk, was born in Pretoria, South Africa.
The complaint, which launched on February 20, claims Musk has engaged in behavior contrary to Canada’s regional passions, alleging that he “has become a member of a foreign state that is attempting to remove American sovereignty”. Additionally, Musk mentions Donald Trump’s support for him as the country’s 51st position, which has been his main supporter since annexing Canada and forming its own.
Musk mocked the plea by saying,” Canada is hardly a true state,” and then responded with the phrase in a post on his social media platform X. ( The post is now unavailable )
Charlie Angus, a associate of the American Federal Legislature and French national lawmaker, spearheaded the petition, which stated that it gives Canadians an opportunity to voice their concerns about the influence of effective figures like Musk. ” People like Elon Musk are enemies of our country”, Angus added.
Musk, who likewise holds US citizen, is known for his social activities and his continued assistance for Trump. The complaint follows Musk’s support of Pierre Poilievre, president of Canada’s Conservative Party, as the next prime minister.
Membership may be revoked under American federal law in cases of false or misleading information provided on immigration applications or when a person is a member of a foreign army serving against Canada. But, petitions presented to Parliament cannot mandate any motion, though they may evoke an official state response.
Parliament is currently suspended until March 24; however, the American government has not made any announcements regarding Musk’s citizenship right away.
