Elon Musk may not be a member of the Cabinet, but the significance of his role in President Donald Trump‘s subsequent administration was made clear during the opening meeting of the company and department heads.
” Anybody angry with Elon? In response to a query about alleged conflicts, Trump said,” If you are, then we’ll put them out of here,” causing applause from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Cabinet people seated around the table in the White House‘s Cabinet Room.
Trump added,” They have a lot of respect for Elon and that he’s doing this. Some people have a little bit of disagreement. But I will tell you, for the most part, I think one’s not merely content — they’re thrilled”.
For his part, Musk appeared respectful to the Cabinet, referring to himself as “humble technology help” before praising Trump’s Cabinet as” the best … ever, actually” as he stood before them, as opposed to having his own seat at the table.
” And I do not give false praise”, Musk said.
Many of the inquiries directed at Musk came after he made clear that he had made a priority for the federal government and that they should respond with five tasks they had completed in the previous five days in exchange for a chance of being fired.  ,
Despite Musk’s public criticism of the email, confusion has since broken out. Department and agency heads, including FBI Director Kash Patel, have since advised their staff to ignore it.
On Wednesday, Musk reiterated that he and DOGE” will make mistakes” and “won’t be perfect”, citing how his aides “accidentally canceled, very briefly … ebola prevention” as part of their cuts to the United States Agency for International Development.
However, Musk defended the email, claiming it was viewed” as a performance review, but in reality it was a pulse check review.”
Due to the large number of people who didn’t respond to the first email, Trump later said he would support sending another one.
” It’s a good idea because those people are on the bubble”, Trump said. ” You’ve got a lot of people that have not responded, so we’re trying to figure out, do they exist? Who are they? Many of those people might actually be fired, which is a possibility.
He continued,” If that happened, that’s OK because that’s what we’re trying to do. This country has gotten bloated and fat and disgusting”.
Trump made the announcement that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would be at the White House on Friday, aside from Musk’s moment, with the expectation that the United States would suggest an unspecified security guarantee. This is an unprecedented rare earth minerals deal.

” President Zelensky will be arriving on Friday. It’s now confirmed, and we’re going to be signing an agreement”, Trump said.
Apart from Lutnick responding to questions about tariffs and Trump’s proposed$ 5 million “gold card” pathway for wealthy foreigners seeking to become U.S. citizens, Musk and Trump had the most time to speak. Scott Turner, the secretary for housing and urban development, prayed before the meeting.
