Karoline Leavitt, a spokesman for the White House, is refuting rumors that Amy Gleason was merely the Department of Government Efficiency‘s temporary executive before it became associated with Elon Musk’s efforts to reduce the size of the federal government and its investing.
” Amy Gleason has been the DOGE executive for quite some time, I believe many weeks, sometimes a month”, Leavitt told investigators on Wednesday. ” I’m not really convinced of the particular timeline. She’s a vocation standard. She’s doing her work as the superintendent of this business”.
Less than 24 days prior, Leavitt resisted writers ‘ frequent questions during Tuesday’s presentation regarding who was leading DOGE, formerly the U.S. Digital Service, before the start of President Donald Trump’s next term.
However, a White House national quickly confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Gleason was the organization’s head at the time. When her name was announced, Gleason was absent in Mexico and declined further reply.
Gleason has been a top adviser to the U. S. Digital Service, the organization that the Trump presidency transformed into DOGE,  , since January, according to her LinkedIn profile. She previously worked for the USDS as a online service specialist from the first Trump presidency, from 2018 to 2021. Beyond that, little is known about her position and level of authority over her.
Questions erupted following a panel discussion between federal attorneys and Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly about DOGE’s access to the Treasury Department on Monday. When asked by the prosecutor if DOGE already has an executive, Justice Department trial lawyers Bradley Humphreys just responded,” I don’t know the answer to that”.
Federal workers received emails last weekends asking them to record five tasks they had completed next week or face termination, making those inquiries even more crucial. The FBI Director Kash Patel and other office and agency leaders instructed their staff not to listen to the note.
On Wednesday, Leavitt criticized media coverage for being unduly concerned with Gleason’s personality, contending that” there’s a lot of folks who work for the federal government” who are” simply trying to accomplish their jobs”.

After Gleason’s brand emerged, some DOGE advisers told investigators they did not realize that she was in command.
