Rachel Maddow is upset over recent MSNBC turbulence, as we recently reported, and she made sure all was aware of it. Following the revocation of Joy Reid’s show and additional breaks at the system, Maddow delivered a speech packed with comedy, anger, and, of training, identity politics.  ,

It appears that her community wasn’t quite pleased with it.
Maddow described Reid’s exit as “very, very, very hard to get” and heaped compliment on her demented former partner, calling her unique. However, Maddow’s genuine fun began when she questioned the rationale behind MSNBC’s choices. As anyone could had predicted, she played the race card.  ,
Maddow pointed out that the system just had” two — count them, two — nonwhite visitors in primetime”, both of whom were losing their displays, along with Katie Fang on the weekends. ” That feels indefensible”, she declared.
But here’s what Maddow easily ignored:” The ReidOut” has been bleeding people, dropping 28 % from February 2024 to February 2025. MSNBC is a business, and failing displays getting canceled. Does Maddow actually think that minority guests may be held accountable for making the same ratings-based choices as everyone else? Obviously, basic economics wasn’t part of the “learning” she claims to had gained from Reid.
Maddow also lamented the wider reform of MSNBC, noting that lots of employees and producers were being forced to return for new positions. She blasted the show’s approach as extraordinary, inadequate, and demoralizing.

Maddow characterized the show’s shakeup as an assault on the free media, insisting that media itself is” under assault” in America because no collapse can be complete without creating an existential crisis. In fact, MSNBC is essentially making business choices like any other system, cutting deadweight. Maddow is roar all she wants, but the figures don’t exist.
What Does the MSNBC Shakeup Show Us Solely for Our Guests?
Today, according to a , report , from The Guardian, the majority of MSNBC employees who produced her present got the knife.
Due to a peculiar arrangement between how Maddow’s and Alex Wagner’s shows were handled, the Maddow staff was fired. Maddow stopped hosting Monday nights and Wagner held Tuesday to Friday nights.
Maddow is already hosting five times a week for the first 100 days of the Trump administration, but when she returns to Mondays just and the software shake-up takes effect on 21 April, Jen Psaki, the original Biden White House press minister, will take over the Tuesday-to-Friday casino.
According to an MSNBC cause, the changes were not “widespread cuts,” but rather the reallocation of suppliers to assist new interests and applications. They claimed that the new positions would be posted internally first and wouldn’t be released externally until the applicants had had a chance to reapply.
The personnel changes are unprecedented at MSNBC at this scale, with employees reapplying for roles in time slots they already produce. After shows have been canceled, MSNBC typically takes great care to redistribute staff members without firing them.

Was this karma? Revenge? Just business? Who cares? We all have the opportunity to watch Rachel Maddow cry over it.
How long will it take her to be fired?
