White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Tuesday that the White House Press Office would no longer have the exclusive authority to choose journalists for the job, according to White House Correspondents ‘ Association ( WHCA ) spokesperson Karoline Leavitt. Lake made it clear that corporate media outlets would still be able to be included, but that the WHCA’s authority to select the push pool has expired.
Unsurprisingly, the WHCA and its users fast cried foul and professed outrage about “free push”.
The shift “tears at the American completely press’s independence,” according to WHCA President Eugene Daniels.
The New York Times ‘ Peter Baker went so far as to evaluate the change to the Kremlin” taking control of its own hit share” by expanding accessibility for independent media.
In a blog on X, Baker stated that “none of this will prevent specialist news outlets from covering this president in the same total, good, hard, and unwavering way that we always have.” Government actions to punish favoritism won’t stop separate journalism, according to the statement.
But their so-called problem for “free click” rings hollow. The WHCA stood by passive and indifferent when the media was actually at risk of losing control of the hit because the hit was more focused on defending Joe Biden and Democrat interests.
When the Biden White House revoked 442 writers ‘ hit certifications, the WHCA took” an actually evasive attitude”.
After their painful passes were removed, the WHCA filed dei papers on behalf of CNN’s Jim Acosta and Brian Karem. The WHCA even released a speech in support of CNN’s Kaitlin Collins after she was prohibited from attending an event.
However, despite the fact that OANN’s correspondent had been personally invited by the Trump administration to be in the briefing room, according to Amber Athey of the Daily Caller,” the WHCA voted to remove conservative One America News Network ( OANN) from the briefing room rotation for abiding by its contrived social distancing guidelines.”
The State Department sued the State Department for blacklisting traditional media outlets, but The Federalist was somewhat silent in response. The WHCA didn’t object, as The Federalist co-founder and CEO Sean Davis observed,” When the Biden White House demanded that big tech companies like Facebook and Google censor traditional media outlets for the murder of thoroughly reporting on the Biden White House.
When former President Joe Biden was caught relying on a cheat sheet with pre-arranged issues, the WHCA stayed motionless about the lack of “free” hit happening. Unfortunately, one of the investigators on the bribe plate, the Los Angeles Times ‘ Courtney Subramanian, was afterward elected to the WHCA Board in 2023.
The WHCA’s blatant disregard for free speech and independent and traditional advertising has been a source of ridicule.
Only nine of the roughly 50 media seats were reserved for outlets that slim conservative, according to my partner Maisey Jefferson’s report, according to a furniture table for the national press briefing room from February 2022. More than half of this already dispersed class are in the back row.

However, it’s not just the WHCA’s social bias that’s disturbing; it’s the swampy personalities that live in it. Consider PBS White House editor Yamiche Alcindor, who praised the 1619 Project and called its father a “national gold”. She even accused then-U. S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams ( who is black ) of being racist when he accused President Donald Trump of using the phrase” Kung Flu” to refer to the Chinese coronavirus, as my colleague Tristan Justice pointed out. Alcindor’s constant unfounded attacks earned her a prominent WHCA award, just farther exposing the organization’s real agenda.
As The Federalist’s Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway put it, the WHCA is a “multi-tiered gatekeeping scam” designed to ensure that the corporate press controls the narrative and can push their own elitist, left-wing agenda at the expense of true journalistic integrity. The WHCA is only upset that his rule change threatens their monopoly on the so-called “free press” because it only makes them angry.
