In response to the stalemate in the Gaza Strip, Hamas handed over the bones of four more captives early on Thursday, and Israel released lots of Israeli prisoners. Israel and Hamas have yet to reach agreement on the next change scheduled for the first phase of the peace, which is scheduled to end this trip. With lots of victims also being held in Gaza, the war may begin.
33 Israelis were ultimately freed at this point, including eight who were killed either in prison or during the October 7, 2023 attack that sparked the conflict.
Five Thai victims were freed differently.
Hamas-led insurgents abducted 251 persons in the October 7, 2023 assault and killed around 1, 200, mostly civilians.
