As the Trump presidency continues to reduce the federal labor, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration began cutting its temporary labor on Thursday, with hundreds of employees working for the best weather and climate modeling agency who were affected by the layoffs.
More than 10 % of the agency’s staff may be affected by the cuts, according to two resources with insider knowledge of the company. The Commerce Department sent letters to hundreds of employees on Thursday afternoon announcing that their jobs may be terminated at the end of the day.  , More messages of abortions are expected on Friday.

Early in February, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Effectiveness staff members walked into NOAA offices. According to a source with knowledge of the debate, some in NOAA management positions had asked for exemptions for meteorologists working for the National Weather Service.
It’s unclear if those calls for exclusions were followed. However, on Thursday, many scientists made their termination announcements in public online.
Matthew Eovino, a scientist for the National Weather Service in Anchorage, announced his dismissal in a blog on X, writing that” this isn’t just about me – this impacts the future of wind forecasting”.

One of the organizations that the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 demanded that the management dissolve the weather agency was NOAA. The cuts at NOAA occur after other organizations have been reducing their labor and firing employees who have only had a few years of service. In order to lower government investing, Trump’s administration has been attempting to reduce the national workforce.
Staff at NOAA Headquarters, the National Weather Service, the spacecraft section, the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research have been hit by the breaks, according to a cause comfortable.
