US President Donald Trump posed the question,” Is anyone angry with Elon? At his first Cabinet meeting after taking office for a second time?” As nervous laughter filled the room, he continued,” If you are, we’ll put him out of here”. His Cabinet people responded with clapping, New York Times reports.
The light-hearted note came during the first appointment of Trump’s new Cabinet, but the environment in the room suggested a deeper stress. While Elon Musk was seated behind them, dressed in black, wearing a MAGA helmet and a T-shirt reading” Tech Support,” were senior leaders, including defense secretary Pete Hegseth and secretary of state Marco Rubio.
Musk just bypassed government regulations and issued an order to federal employees directly, requesting that they provide a written explanation of how they used their time, as well as a list of five accomplishments via email, in order to avoid risk termination.
Some departments, including state, army, power, country security, and justice, had pushed back against the law, instructing their staff not to agree.
As the reaction increased, Musk officially criticized those who resisted, claiming that some people had “failed yet that inane check, urged on in some cases by their professionals.” Additionally, Musser claimed that this reward was merely a swift “pulse check.”
The White House had to be certain whether the billionaire investor had no official power.
Before the appointment, Trump tried to reassure his staff by posting on his Truth social media account:” ALL CABINET People ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH ELON. At the Cabinet Meeting this morning, the advertising will be able to see that! “!
Musk played a significant role in the conference, despite not being given an official seat. When Trump asked him to talk, he took the podium and remained in place for the majority of the conversation, speaking more than anyone else but the leader.
He claimed he had cleared the questionable order with Trump in progress and that he had already done it with him. ” I said,’ May we take out an email to people just saying what did you get done last week,’ and the leader said yes”, Musk explained, pointing the role again at Trump, who nodded together.
Musk was trying to win the audience over as he had been voicing his frustration with government officials and the media. ” President Trump has put together the best Cabinet ever, literally”, he declared. ” I don’t think that such a talented team has ever been assembled”.
He also emphasized the significance of his work. ” I’m taking a lot of flak”, he said,” and getting a lot of death threats, by the way”. Then, he issued a warning:” If we don’t do this, America will go bankrupt. That’s why it has to be done”.
The Washington Post published a report the same day that revealed that Musk’s business empire had relied on$ 38 billion in government funding.
A reporter posed the question to Trump about executive authority as the meeting came to a close:” Do you think you have the authority to call up any one or all of the people seated at this table and issue orders that they are bound to follow?”
The president’s voice dropped slightly. ” Oh, yeah”, he said. ” They’ll follow the orders, yes, they will”.
This time, nobody laughed.
