Attorney General Pam Bondi had been considering releasing the “Epstein documents,” allegedly classified as key documents that the federal government held about some of the prominent people who were connected to infamous businessman Jeffrey Epstein, for days.
However, the around 200 pages of documents Bondi released on Thursday contained much new information that suggested wrong by anyone other than Epstein, a recognized sex offender who passed away in jail. The report dump mostly contained trip reports for Epstein’s aircrafts, which had been long ago made public, contact info for lots of associates, and succinct descriptions of the items that were discovered at his residences.
The launch was intended to usher in a new age of transparency within the justice office. However, Bondi’s Fox News interview on Wednesday night, which hailed the highly anticipated initial release of documents appeared to be largely political theater. A number of conventional influencers received a sneak preview of the documents on Thursday afternoon from Bondi and Kash Patel, FBI director, some of whom walked out of the West Wing and waved thick white binders with the phrase “Epstein Files: Stage I.” One of them eventually called it an “interesting souvenir” and called it.
However, the justice ministry had not yet posted the material by midafternoon. And Bondi was receiving condemnation from those who had taken her literally the night before on social media. Bondi responded by promising to release more files in the future. She claimed afterwards that a” source” in the FBI’s New York City had informed her that the ministry had kept” tons” of previously unidentified pages of Epstein-related files and that she was determined to obtain them. Late on Thursday, the records were made public, along with a speech from Patel that read,” If there are gaps, we will consider them. We did find data if they have been hidden. However, some members of Congress took to Twitter to express their frustration. Give us the information we requested! wrote Representative RepresentativeAnna Paulina Luna.
Many of the sources, including older police reports and transcripts of prey interviews, were already widely known. Trump, former president Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom, and magician David Copperfield were mentioned in the reports, while was one victim’s account of meeting Michael Jackson at Epstein’s Florida house, but nothing unintended transpired with him.
