As Egypt’s ongoing discussions about the peace deal between Israel and Hamas come to an end on Saturday, there is no guarantee that it will pass. On January 19, when Israel and Hamas began to fight again, 33 Jewish victims were exchanged for roughly 1, 9000 Palestinian detainees held by Israel.
Former US president Joe Biden had stated when he announced the package that the transfer of all remaining existing victims, including female men, and that Israeli forces would remove from Gaza.
There would be a significant restoration of Gaza in the next phase. Without wasting any of the money spent by American citizens on taking control of Gaza and sending the US Army it, US President Donald Trump declared. However, no announcement has been made regarding the second stage of the ceasefire agreement.
What will happen then, then?
Experts claim that step two of the peace deal won’t start until the ceasefire is over. According to Max Rodendeck, an analyst for the International Crisis Group,” One thing we can anticipate is that phase two won’t start tomorrow, but I think the ceasefire probably won’t collapse as well,” he told AFP.
What is Israel’s goal?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to Egypt on Thursday to mediate the conversations in order to advance the deals. Defense Minister Israel Katz cited a delay in the first step of the agreement as a means of releasing more hostages, as opposed to a second step.
58 victims, including 34 who the Jewish military claims are dead, are still in Gaza of the 251 hostages that Hamas’s October 7 attack left behind.
What is Hamas seeking?
Hamas opposes an extension of the first step. They stated that during the second period, they are ready to exchange all of the hostages for one in a single switch.
May Israel leave the Philadelphia hall?
Israel is supposed to start pulling its troops from the border region, known as the Philadelphi hall, on Sunday and left it entirely by the weekend following the agreed truce. It would be seen as a significant contravention of the peace if Israel did not leave the hall right away.
