Federal employees had a minute midnight deadline on Monday to cooperate with Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency‘s requests to record their regular achievement.
Only over 1 million of the federal government’s 2.4 million total employees, excluding military officers, responded to DOGE’s previous email request. The requirement requires federal employees to list five individual achievements from the past week, but Muss and President Donald Trump have defended it, even though other White House officials have refrained from suggesting that failing to do so will result in dismissal, as Musk has previously stated in public.
HIGH-PROFILE MISTAKES ARE PUSHED BY MUSK-LED DOG BACK TO THE STREAMLINE GOVERNMENT.
This second fast, which Trump’s Office of Personnel Management initially sent to workers on Friday night, instructs employees to list five regular contributions and establishes a plan to do so until midnight every Monday.
White House, DOGE, and OPM authorities announced later this week that they may revise them on how many employees they anticipate compliering with Musk’s most recent request but did not specify how many will work.
The second date was handled really different across Trump’s presidency, just like the first email.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth instructed human employees to fulfill Monday’s evening deadline but advised Pentagon workers not to react during the first round.
After recently being exempted because of the” personal and delicate nature of the Department’s work,” FBI Director Kash Patel continued to direct employees never to respond “until further notice,” despite having previously been exempted.
Over the weekend, the State Department informed its employees that the office management would handle the demand on their behalf, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons informed its personnel that any “disclosure” of “duties may deal institution security and operations” was a policy.
Over the weekend, Musk himself reiterated OPM’s recommendations to employees to refrain from divulging any confidential or sensitive data.
The President posted on X, previously known as Twitter,  , on Saturday,” The President has made it clear that this is necessary for the professional branch.” Everyone working on categorized or other sensitive matters can also respond if they receive the email, but they can simply state that their work is sensitive.
The DOGE head and president have stated that the internet demands themselves are intended to determine whether employees on the federal payment really work, suggesting that those who don’t adhere to the regulations would be “on the bubble.”
When asked about the internet demands at Trump’s Cabinet meeting last Wednesday, Musk responded,” We think there are a number of individuals on the payment who are deceased, which is likely why they didn’t answer…. and some individuals who aren’t real people.” You can reply to an email if you have a pulse and two neurons.
Trump said,” Maybe they’re going to be gone, maybe they’re not around, maybe they have other jobs, maybe they moved, or maybe they’re not where they’re supposed to be.” ” Many things could have happened,” he said.
The Trump administration is actively preparing for significant downsizing of the federal workforce with the “five things” emails.
On Wednesday morning, OPM and the Office of Management and Budget sent a memo to all federal departments and agencies setting a two-phased schedule for “large-scale reductions in force.”
The federal government is “deeply in debt,” according to the article. It fails to deliver results for the American public at the same time. Instead, tax dollars are being squandered to pay for wasteful and pointless initiatives that benefit radical interests while harming hard-working Americans, according to the memo, before making March 13 and April 14 deadlines for departments to send White House workforce plans for workforce cuts.
The memo also included a list of seven” tools” department and agency heads should use to create their plans, specifically:
Continuing to adhere to the hiring freeze set forth in the Presidential Memorandum Hiring Freeze on January 20, 2025.
Establishing internal procedures that make sure agency leadership has access to all job offer candidates and potential applicants before extending offers.
Eliminating nonstatutorily mandated functions,  .
— Removing underperforming employees or those engaged in misconduct, and carrying out an evaluation of probationary employees.
— Reducing headcount through attrition and allowing term or temporary positions to end without renewal.
Separating reemployed annuitants in areas likely to be RIF-compatible.
— Renegotiating collective bargaining agreement terms that would impair employee accountability and government efficiency.
WHITE HOUSE INSISTED, AFTER IT WAS NOT MUSKED, AND AMY GLEASON WAS IDENTIFIED AS ACTING DOGE LEADER.
Democrats attempted to use the “five things” emails to promote their own accomplishments in February. Even the party’s own supporters made fun of the Democratic National Committee’s social media post, which contained 32 points.
