After an internal investigation revealed that Hamas used online posts to gather intelligence on the Nahal Oz base before its deadly October 7 attack, the Israel Defense Forces ( IDF) is imposing stricter restrictions on soldiers ‘ social media activity.
53 soldiers were killed in the assault, and ten people were taken prisoner. The investigation discovered that photos shared by soldiers during their final and final days at the bottom helped Hamas identify crucial locations, including secure rooms, generators, surveillance cameras, and patrol movements. Eventually, captured Israeli soldiers admitted to using this information to create coaching types of Nahal Oz.
The Army is now imposing stringent penalties for violations of the law, enforcing strict penalties for breaches, and expanding security classifications to a wider range of positions in an effort to stop related intelligence leaks. Additionally, officers and soldiers will be unable to use Facebook or other social media sites while holding vulnerable opportunities. Also, the shooting of civilian-attended defense ceremonies and occasions may be restricted.
Additionally, the investigation revealed that Nahal Oz men had no prior notice before the attack. Ground abuse training had not been conducted for years, and safety protocols did not take into account jet fireplace or the safety of armed personnel.
More military investigations revealed that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad carried out coordinated attacks on Israeli homes and military installations along the Gaza borders. The army was more focused on risks from Iran and Hezbollah, and information about the looming rape was misinterpreted. The information, which were made public on Thursday, addressed administrative problems but did not examine political choices.
The demand for an independent investigation into the losses on October 7 has grown. A commission like this, which is usually led by a mature Supreme Court justice, would have more authority to summon witnesses and gather evidence. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized the action, saying on Monday he did not aid a “politically biased” analysis. His notes sparked verbal altercations between Senate security personnel and grieving families.
At least 1, 180 people died as a result of Hamas problems near the Gaza borders on October 7 and 252 Israelis and foreigners were killed as a result. 36 of the 59 captives who are still alive are thought to have died while being held captive.
