Pope Francis was in stable condition, relying on supplemental oxygen for breathing after experiencing respiratory issues the previous day. However, he is set to resume using a ventilation mask at night to aid his recovery, the Vatican said on Tuesday.
No more respiratory complications were reported in the Vatican’s most recent report, but the Pope engaged in meditation, rest, and breathing physiotherapy throughout the day to treat double pneumonia.
The 88-year-old veteran who was living with chronic lung disease and limited heart treatment from his children, had two concerning breathing episodes on Monday, which suggested a downturn in his recuperation.
Health professionals confirmed his steady state while keeping a vigilanced outlook, which indicates an ongoing risk. They intended to reintroduce nighttime mask air on Tuesday evening, delivering oxygen through a nose-and-mouth covering gadget.
The medical staff managed to get rid of a lot of the mucus from his breathing. His situation improved enough by Tuesday morning to move to high-flow air shipping via nasal cannula after over use of a non-invasive ventilation mask.
Due to his entrance to Gemelli Hospital, the Pope struggled with text reading and had breathing issues. He now occupies a dedicated catholic suite on the eighth floor.
Being in the doctor for two weeks and experiencing repeated respiratory distress is a very bad sign, according to Bruno Crestani, head of the Pulmonology office at Paris ‘ Funny hospital, according to AFP.
He said on February 22 that he had a “prolonged allergic airway turmoil,” and that he had” an isolated bronchospasm crisis” on February 28.
Pope Francis has recently undergone a number of health issues, including a rupture operation in 2023 and stomach procedure in 2021. He then relies on a wheelchair because of continued hip and knee problems.
