Ernst was named as one of retired Maj. Gen. Christopher Finerty’s reported partners, according to a glitzy ProPublica exploration. Finerty was removed after an unidentified military source discovered his illicit affairs with numerous women. After investigators discovered he had engaged in” physical, inappropriate, or unprofessional associations,” Fernety, a rising star in the Air Force’s legislative affairs company, was forced into early retirement in November 2023.
Two options confirmed to ProPublica that Ernst was one of Finerty’s partners despite the inspector general’s record redacting their names.
