Donald Trump is scheduled to give his second shared handle of his second name in front of Congress on Tuesday night. He is expected to introduce his plan for the next four years, just months after making a traditional social comeback , in the 2024 election.
Trump signed the most senior actions  of any leader on their first time in office, surpassing President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s 57 administrative actions report of 57 in his first 100 days. The president has taken 80 % of his required activities, including renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and declaring a national crisis at the border and creating the Department of Government Efficiency.
Trump’s handle comes as his approval rating is in decline, though. Trump’s approval rate on Inauguration Day was 51 %, but it was close to the 48 % mark, according to Real Clear Politics, which released the results on Monday.
Additionally, according to an NPR-PBS News-Marist poll released on Monday, 53 % of respondents believe the state of the union to be weak or weak at all, 54 % believe the nation is heading in the wrong direction, and 56 % believe Trump has been “rushing to make changes.”
Following his Oval Office conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last week and 25 % taxes anticipated to be imposed on Canada and Mexico on Tuesday, there are legitimate, useful, and political issues involving Elon Musk‘s DOGE, legislative Republican disagreements over how to go Trump’s priorities and keep the federal government start after March 14, and global disagreement over his approach to the Russia–Ukraine battle.
As the president’s base embraces his position on Russia and Ukraine, Musk, whose DOGE is trying to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, will likely be in the House of Representatives for Trump’s address.
Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer praised Trump for “explaining what he is doing,” including negotiating a peace deal with Russia and Ukraine, and stating that Fleischer hopes he will use the speech to “explain why.”
I want to hear him tying it all up and explaining why he’s going after the foreign policy he is, Fleischer said. Why is he pursuing tariffs? If he could create an intellectual framework around his actions that is understandable, he would strengthen his position.
Fleischer urged Trump to “go beyond’ Make America Great Again‘ and explain why he believes tariffs will improve our lives, for instance. ”  ,
Why does he believe Vladimir Putin and we can work together? Why is Europe in need of a new order? “he said.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ), who will be positioned behind Trump on Tuesday, claimed that the president’s speech would “provide fireworks, in a great way.”
Johnson told Fox News last weekend that” President Trump is coming in a triumphant return to Congress to address us as the president once again.” He has accomplished so much in his first month of office that it could take three hours. I believe he will speak sooner than that.
The speaker continued,” Normally, a new president’s term, a president’s term, would not deliver a State of the Union.” It would be merely a joint address as its title suggests. Because President Trump has such a long history of victories, things he has done, promises he has kept, and it is putting America back on solid ground, we can’t wait to welcome him back to the chamber, in this instance, it will actually be more like a State of the Union address.
Trump is the only speaker to address Congress for the longest period of time, sometimes referred to as a State of the Union, in a president’s first year in office.
Trump’s record-breaking addresses are on average one hour and fifteen minutes long, one minute longer than similarly obscene and impeached former president Bill Clinton. With his 1993 remarks drawing 66.9 million viewers, Clinton currently has the most watched address ever.
Trump, a former reality TV star, is known for turning his prime-time remarks into made-for-TV moments.
Rush Limbaugh, who will be presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020, might be one of those who will surprise him. Limbaugh had been identified with lung cancer two weeks prior. He died in 2021.
Trump’s address, his and first lady Melania Trump‘s special guests, and his travel plans have mostly been kept to themselves, but the White House has pledged that his speech will be significant.
I’ll let you know how it is! He stated on Monday on Truth Social.
Trump told reporters he would raise Ukraine during his address as he and Zelensky’s mineral deal is unsigned after announcing Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited  , is investing an additional$ 100 billion in the U.S.
He said, “I’ll let you know,”” in the Roosevelt Room on Monday,” about whether the deal is dead.” You probably heard about our speech tomorrow night, so I’ll let you know tomorrow night.
Vice President JD Vance will travel to the border on Wednesday, making him the highest-ranking official in the Trump administration to schedule one since his inauguration. The lowest month in recorded history was February, according to Border Patrol Chief Michael W. Banks, who noted last weekend that only 8, 326 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the U.S. Mexico border in February.
As Democrats continue to face challenges in figuring out how to best combat Trump, first-term Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI ) will lead the Democratic response. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA ), who herself sat behind Trump for two of his State of the Union speeches and famously ripped up his 2020 address, has advised Democrats to be wary of political optics.
According to Pelosi,” Any demonstration of disagreement, whether it be through visual or whatever, just let him stew in his own juice.” Don’t be the mill’s mill to claim that this was inappropriate.
Democrats who have chosen to attend Trump’s speech will use this as an opportunity to highlight the impact Musk, DOGE, and the president have had on federal employees.

Republicans are also being selective about their own guests, including libertarian Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who reportedly will be accompanied by Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.
After being found guilty in 2015 of engaging in a criminal enterprise, distributing narcotics via the internet, conspiracy to launder money laundering, conspiracy to traffic fraudulent identity documents, and conspiracy to hack computers, Trump pardoned him in January, in the middle of a double life in prison sentence with the possibility of 40 years without parole.
