After discussions with both countries all day, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick teased that President Donald Trump might ease the 25 % tariffs on Mexico and Canada.
Trump announced the tariffs on Tuesday after it had been delayed by a month, with the senator arguing that the country’s failure to take steps to stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigration into the US made the necessary adjustments. Lutnick stated on Fox Business’s Kudlow that while there would not be a wait, there might be some way to lower the levies.
The leader is listening because, you know, he’s very, very good and very reasonable, and the Mexicans and the Canadians were on the telephone with me all day now, trying to show that they’ll do much,” Lutnick said.
I believe he will work things out with them, thus. I don’t want there to be a wait, and neither will there be, but I do believe he will find out that if you do more, I’ll meet you somewhere in the middle. And that will likely become announced tomorrow, he continued. The president moving with the Canadians and Mexicans, but not completely, will probably have a middle ground, so to speak.
Lutnick claimed that Trump is” considering” easing suffering for those who “live under” the terms of the president’s first name.

Trump also made fun of mutual taxes that will be implemented on April 2 and warned Canada that any tariffs that Canada will establish will be matched by the U.S.
Please discuss to Canadian Governor Trudeau that our Reciprocal Tariff will soon increase by a similar amount. Trump stated previously on Truth Social in a statement.
