US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick predicted that President Donald Trump would reach a deal on taxes with Canada and Mexico as soon as Wednesday.
Lutnick, who spoke to Fox Business on Tuesday, suggested that negotiations were raging after the two neighboring nations implemented sweeping 25 % tariffs on imports.
Lutnick said,” I think he’s going to work something out with them.” The leader moving with the Canadians and Mexicans, but not all the way, is likely to be the result, the results.
The taxes, which went into effect on Tuesday night shortly after midnight, have raised questions about a potential global trade war, with Canada and Mexico both reminder of possible retaliation. The White House’s plan to combat illicit fentanyl prostitution and bring about economic benefits for American business has been framed by the levies.
Trump’s possible news comes amid broader economic uncertainty, as tariffs on Chinese goods are also being raised to 20 %, more escalating tensions with important trading partners.
