On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump directed Muriel Bowser to address the issue of “unsightly” poverty in the country’s capital, including those that exist outside the White House and the state office.
Trump threatened the Mayor in a post on social media, stating that if she couldn’t handle the situation, his supervision had immediately intervene.
The Mayor of Washington, D.C., in particular the people close to the White House and outside the State Department, has been informed that she must clear up all of the unappealing poor camps in the area. We will have to do it for her if she is unable to do so. Washington, D.C. has become CLEAREN and SAFE! We want to reaffirm our nation’s fantastic investment. Mayor Bowser, I want to thank you for your efforts in support of the members of our nation. Finally you’ll succeed”! In a post on Truth Social, he stated.
The President’s doubts about Mayor Bowser’s ability reflect how strained their marriage turned after the George Floyd protests in Washington in 2020.
Bowser made the suggestion on Tuesday that Washington might re-open the Black Lives Matter Plaza close to the White House.
The fresco inspired millions of people, and it helped our city through a difficult time, Bowser said on X,” but presently we can’t manage to be distracted by irrelevant congressional interference.”
Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga. )’s proposal to withhold funding from Washington until the plaza is renamed” Liberty Plaza” was followed by the mayor’s response.
Trump made his remarks in March regarding provincial dominance of the country’s capital.
Trump later told investigators,” I believe we should manage the District of Columbia.” ” I believe we should work it powerful, operate it in the strictest manner possible, and make it perfect.”
