The American Dream and Promise Act of 2025 has been reintroduced by Congresswomen Pramila Jayapal and Sylvia Garcia, along with several co-sponsors.
According to a media release from Rep. Jayapal’s company, the act has received 201 co-sponsors in Congress and nearly 120 individuals.
The bipartisan bill known as the American Dream and Promise Act of 2025 aims to give illegal immigrants who were born here as children a path to citizenship.
The bill also offers stability to those who have lived and made significant contributions to American society through Temporary Protected Status ( TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure ( DED ) protections.
According to lawmakers, DACA recipients are responsible for approximately$ 3.2 billion in state and local taxes per year and$ 6.2 billion in federal taxes. According to the Center for American Progress, granting membership to Romantics would increase the country’s GDP by$ 799 billion over the next ten years.
Rep. Jayapal criticized former president Donald Trump’s” cruel” immigration policies, claiming they spooked Dreamers and left them uncertain about their future legal.
Dreamers are” Americans,” according to the phrase. She said that it’s past time to grant them membership and go laws to protect them from hateful mass deportations and anti-immigrant stunts.
Prior to taking office, former president Donald Trump indicated that he was ready to work with Democrats on assisting the Dreamers, implying that Republicans were available to a nonpartisan option, according to the press release.
