A 28-year-old PhD student at University College London was found guilty on Wednesday of raping and drugging 10 people.
He flew to China only days after a woman accused him of raping her in November 2023, according to the UK newspaper The Guardian. In January of this year, he was detained upon returning to London.
He was convicted of raping three women between 2019 and 2023 in England and China by a judge at Internal Crown Court.
The man, known as Zhenhao Zou, had recorded nine of the murders and kept a number of women’s things as” souvenirs” during the recording process. Just two of his victims have been identified by police.
The majority of the subjects in the video were unconscious, according to Zou. The movies Zou filmed served as important information for his judgment.
Patients discovered using dating software
Through dating apps, Zou targeted people, inviting them residence for refreshments before drugging them at his London apartment or other remote locations in China.
Catherine Farrelly Houston, the counsel, described him as a “persistent physical predator” who appeared intelligent and lovely but abused women for his crimes.
Additionally, he was found guilty of possessing intense sex, the unlawful possession of the restricted drug fermentation, which he used to commit murder, and false incarceration.
Zou relocated to London in 2019 to study for her master’s degree before joining in a mechanical engineering PhD system.
