Israeli officials have rescued ten missing American construction workers from the West Bank, where they had been held for over a quarter after being stripped of their documents. The Indian Embassy in Israel confirmed their treatment and stated,” While the topic is still under investigation, the Embassy is in touch with the Jewish government &, have requested to ensure their safety &, well-being”.
According to the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority, the staff were lured to the West Bank town of al-Zaayem by Palestinians under the false promises of work. Their documents were confiscated and reportedly used in an attempt to cross into Israel improperly.
The rescue operation was carried out overnight by the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority, the Israel Defence Forces ( IDF), and the Justice Ministry, local media reported. The employees have been moved to a safe place while regulators determine their career status.
