The continuous US-Canada business dispute took a serious turn as President Donald Trump accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of using the tax fight as a social strategy to increase his re-election campaign.
” Believe it or not, despite the terrible task he’s done for Canada, I think that Justin Trudeau is using the Tax issue, which he has generally caused, in order to run again for Prime Minister. So much fun to watch”! Trump wrote on TruthSocial, reigniting tensions between the two officials.

The feud stems from the US imposing a 25 % tariff on Canadian imports, citing concerns over fentanyl trafficking. Trudeau has warned that the business issue with the US will linger for the “foreseeable potential”, with high-level negotiations continued to replace the tariffs before Trump’s planned further measures take effect on April 2. But, no decision has been reached, and Trudeau has opted to deny details until material decisions are made.
Canada has retaliated with its own tariffs on US imports and has sought treatment from the World Trade Organization. The tit-for-tat financial conflict has rattled financial industry and further strained the now stormy US-Canada connection.
