A World War II-era explosive weapon was discovered at the Paris Gare du Nord in France on Friday, leading officials to shut down visitors from the switch and towards it.
The SNCF rail power confirmed that the old system was located “in the middle of the tracks” near Saint Denis during repair work carried out overnight in the region, as reported by AFP.
The SNCF, which operates France’s national railway system, announced that all train services at the Gare du Nord would remain suspended until mid-morning ( local time ) following police instructions. The railroad expert advised people to change their travel schedules.
The Paris authorities initiated functions to neutralise the system, resulting in a full suspension of services at the France’s busiest switch, which serves Eurostar trains and high-speed, local services. About 700, 000 people go through this switch located in Northern France, according to SNCF data.
