A Salem man has been charged in connection with two distinct theft occurrences at a Tesla dealership, including an alleged Molotov cocktail attack and a firing, federal prosecutors said.
Adam Matthew Lansky, 41, was arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday, where he was charged with fraudulently possessing an unlicensed destructive machine. A judge ordered him to remain in custody pending additional proceedings.
According to the U. S. Attorney’s Office in Oregon, the Tesla factory at 2755 Mission St. SE was second targeted on January 20, 2025, when Salem Police responded to reports of a man throwing Molotov cocktails at the company. Nearly a quarter later, on February 19, officials were suddenly called to the scene after one shot out panels at the factory.
Surveillance images linked Lansky to both situations, authorities said. The film reportedly showed him hurling Molotov wines at the dealer’s building and some cars, igniting lights. Also, dashcam footage from a police vehicle captured a car parked near the shop on the evening of the firing, which regulators later determined was registered to Lansky.
The case is being investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ( ATF), and the Salem Police Department.
