
A 21-year-old video set fire to a vacant creating to film rescuers extinguishing the flame for social media posts, Maryland officials reported.
The person also called 911 to report the flames in Charles County at about 8: 30 p. m. Feb. 22, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said in a Friday, Feb. 28, media release.
Fire marshal determined the blaze, which was immediately extinguished, was intentionally set, the department said.
The 911 visitor, Joshua Christian-Stanley Jackson, of Prince Frederick, often posts videos of emergency service reactions to various social media sites, officials said.
In a blog on the incident, Jackson said he spotted the flames after making a DoorDash supply, but an inspection showed he made no sales at that time, officials said.
Jackson admitted to setting the fire in order to obtain video images for social media, authorities said.
He faces claims of second-degree fire, harmful burning and causing a fake fire alarms, authorities said.
” Arson is a serious offense that puts lives at risk and places an unnecessary stress on our first firefighters”, Acting State Fire Marshal Jason M. Mowbray said in the release.
Charles County is about a 70-mile travel south from Baltimore.
