A Syrian-born Arab activist and past Columbia University grad student was arrested on Saturday and will presumably had his green cards revoked because of his participation in extreme left-wing protests supporting Hamas.
The U. S. Department of Homeland Security announced the imprisonment of Mahmoud Khalil, saying Khalil “led actions aligned to Hamas, a designated criminal business”. According to his lawyer, Khalil is a continuous resident with a clean card.
Federal law prohibits providing “material aid or resources” to any designated criminal organizations.
President Donald Trump said his administration would never bear any “pro-terrorist” actions in a Truth Social article.
” This is the first arrest of many to come. We know there are more individuals at Columbia and another Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American action, and the Trump administration did not bear it”, Trump said. ” We will find, capture, and arrest these terrorist loyalists from our state — not to return once”.
As reported by the New York Post,” Khalil and Columbia United Apartheid Divest, which has vowed to intensify its approaches ‘ until the kingdom crumbles,’ were among those taking part in the school acquisition at the start of the school time”. Columbia United Apartheid Divest” agrees with evil groups like Hamas and Hezbollah”, according to the New York Post.
Khalil also led a protest that sought the” complete annihilation of American civilization”, according to the New York Post.
Khalil likewise told a Post columnist in September that protesters do” continue to resist” and set up camps and further demonstrations.
During an April invasion of Columbia University, activists, including those associated with Columbia University Apartheid Divest, broke into Hamilton Hall.
President Minouche Shafik said the protesters occupying Hamilton Hall broke the doors, damaged and destroyed property, and “mistreat]ed ]” public safety officers and maintenance staff.
A speech from the school also said that the “disruptions on school have created a menacing culture for many of our Jewish kids and faculty”.
Khalil was likewise reportedly caught on camera at the recent rally that took place this quarter at the Milstein Library at Barnard College, according to the Post. ” That opposition featured aggressive advertising flyers that apparently came straight from the ‘ Hamas Media Office,’ including one book titled’ Our Narrative … Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,’ which justified the Oct. 7, 2023 attack”, the Post reported.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a blog on X on Sunday that” we will be revoking the visa and/or natural accounts of Hamas supporters in America so they can get deported”.
Drop Site News writer Ryan Grim claimed Trump was “disappearing” Khalil. ” Have any members of Congress commented on the removal by the Trump presidency of a legal permanent resident for protesting Israel”?
Reason writer Billy Binion said in a blog on X that “if Mahmoud Khalil really broke the law, finally charge him with a crime. Until that happens, it really looks like this leadership … is trying to arrest a green card holder for espousing opinions they dislike. And that’s hideous”.
Khalil was never arrested for “protesting Israel” or “espousing opinions” disliked by the Trump administration, yet, but rather was detained for allegedly leading “activities aligned” to a terrorist organization. Nor was Khalil “disappeared”, his arrest was made people.
As Jay P. Greene, senior research fellow for The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Education Policy, wrote in Tablet last year, “many foreign students ]hold ] bigoted views imported from their home cultures”, and these “hateful doctrines foreign to American culture” are later “normalize]d ]” by these same students who may go on to “become professors”.
As RedState author who goes by the name Bonchie on X posted, the founders did include “laughed at” the idea that “it’s a grave violation of rights if you don’t allow a foreign national remain in the US to boldly promote terrorism”.
