Right-wing critic and author Ann Coulter questioned the imprisonment and the following conversation over the possibility of deporting Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University undergraduate who was arrested for pro-Palestinian protests on schools next year. Khalil was arrested by the ICE ( Immigration and Customs Enforcement ) over the weekend and perhaps President Donald Trump made a social media post addressing Khalil’s name– blowing the matter out of proportion as his presidency is trying to make an instance out of Khalil. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said permits or natural accounts of for Hamas supporters may be revoked so that they can be deported.
Khalil’s attorney Amy Greer said Khalil is a natural passport holder and he was arrested yet after she mentioned the propriety of his membership to the presidency.
” There’s almost no one I don’t want to arrest, but unless they’ve committed a murder, isn’t this a violation of the First Amendment”? Coulter said on the social system X in response to a statement from the New York Post. The First Amendment is the right to free speech.
After Ann Coulter’s article, social media users noted that even Ann Coulter, known for her hard-line anti-migration position, is uncomfortable with the Trump administration’s schedule to arrest a green passport holder.
What is the string over Mahmoud Khalil? What we know but much
Mahmoud Khalil completed his master’s level from Columbia University in December. Before Columbia, he held many jobs in foreign enhancement including with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. He studied for his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Lebanese American University, Beirut. Born in Syria, Khalil is a green card holder and is a US resident, married to an American.
Khalil was at the vanguard of the pro-Palestine protests that rocked the schools next month. He was suspended by his school and was then reinstated.
Trump said Khalil’s imprisonment is the first arrest of some to occur. ” Following my earlier signed Executive Orders, ICE boldly apprehended and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student on the school of Columbia University. This is the first imprisonment of some to come. We know there are more individuals at Columbia and another Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American action, and the Trump Administration does not bear it”, Trump wrote.
A federal prosecutor in New York blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to arrest Mahmoud Khalil for the time being– until the judge’s second attempt.
