Jerry Seinfeld had a bit that I think he used in the opening credits of an episode of” Seinfeld” ( I know it appeared in his books ) in which he referred to the office environment as a” stationary store with Danish”. The idea of this pun, of course, is that business drones come in to work, get meal, do as much work as possible, even steal some supplies, and get home.

We know the truth: the vast majority of the American workplace shows up and puts in the job. Plumbers, contractors, computer specialists, accountants — you name it. Even folks who don’t always enjoy their jobs get the job done. The reason for that is companies who hold their people responsible.
And then there are national staff. The cliché of the stupid federal employee is so entrenched that the jokes never ending. I had a friend who worked for the Department of Agriculture ages ago, and she took offence at anyone making the” near enough for state job” joke.
I don’t doubt that there are hardworking federal employees, but those aren’t the people who are freaking out about the Trump administration and the efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ) to trim the fat and save the taxpayers some money and bureaucracy. There’s also a large force of national employees who see their jobs as a taxpayer-subsidized” fixed business with Danish”, and they showed up in force for a recent rally.

Journalist Kyle Becker posted a picture on X of a person wearing one of those paper faces five years after COVID. ( I had hoped to integrate the movie, but X connects aren’t working. I’m assuming it’s the ripple effect of the assault on the app yesterday. My apologies. ) This harpy shrieked about the brain of Elon Musk and Depends to maintain national employees responsible for doing their work:
When you wake up or when you’re on your trip and you get the “fork in the road” information, or you get the following five guns. ” Hey, what the devil did you do, you stupid federal contractor, this month”?
How frightening is it that someone on X, the owner of X, speaks to you straight to say,” What did you do last week at work? And if you don’t answers, I am going to blaze you”.
But even more severe, the president comes out, the most prominent man in the area, and endorses that information.
How do you think that makes national employees feel?
Cry me a valley, woman! As a taxpayer, I don’t care one ounce about how it makes you feel when one asks you if you’re doing your job.  ,
In the bottom right corner of the movie, one holds a sign that reads,” Trump, maintain your little arms off our freedom”. These people see collecting a pleasant money on the taxpayers ‘ dime without responsibilities as freedom. That’s a degree of rights that’s worse than any of us may have imagined.

If these national people are doing what they’re supposed to do, they should be able to show the DOGE people what they do in a week. If they have nothing to hide, therefore they don’t get raising quite a fuss over transparency. This staging shared more than she perhaps realized, and in doing so, she demonstrated why DOGE is thus essential.
Keep up the good work, Elon &, Co. You’re shining the light on so much.
What a day to be dead! Elon Musk and DOGE are doing the yeoman’s job of showing just how ingrained, inefficient, and entitled our federal government is.  ,
