Delaware Governor Matt Meyer appeared flustered during a popular CNBC interview when asked to give a message to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Instead of answering, Meyer hesitated and responded,” Elon who”?
” If Elon’s watching right now, what do you tell him”? asked CNBC network Andrew Sorkin. Meyer, looking surprised, responded:” Elon who”?
Sorkin, evidently taken away, clarified,” Musk”.
Meyer finally stumbled through a reply, saying,” Elon Musk? Uh… choose, please prevent cutting our national government with a saw. Choose keep Medicaid”.
When informed that Musk had no plans to return to Delaware, Meyer responded faintly,” Yeah, yeah… I, I don’t… E-Elon, yeah. He’s, he’s running his business. I don’t, I don’t understand. I’m a… ok. Best. I don’t have much to claim on that”.
Musk severed ties with Delaware after a Delaware judge voided his$ 55.8 billion Tesla give deal. Following the ruling, Musk moved his organizations, including SpaceX and Neuralink, out of Delaware and encouraged others to do the same.
” SpaceX has moved its state of incorporation from Delaware to Texas! If your organization is also incorporated in Delaware, I recommend moving to another state as soon as possible”, Musk had posted on X.
Despite Musk’s withdrawal, Meyer downplayed worries about Delaware losing its commercial appeal. He pointed out that Delaware remains the best location for business enterprises.
” We have 2.2 million companies now from around the globe registered in Delaware, the highest amount we’ve ever had”, Meyer said. ” Over two-thirds of Fortune 500 corporations are incorporated in Delaware. The idea that we’re losing something is not absolutely accurate”, he said.
