A UN report released on Friday stated that Iran relies on technological surveillance and the general public to advise women who refuse to wear the required headscarf in public.
The Independent International Fact-Finding Mission’s findings regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran follow a finding made last year that the government’s caliphate was to blame for the “physical murder” that caused Mahsa Amini’s death.
UN investigators describe in the review how Iran is significantly dependent on digital surveillance. Iranian officials are reportedly using” underwater drone security” to track women in public spaces. Officials at Tehran’s Amirkabir University have installed facial recognition cameras and software to identify those who do not clat in the dress. It is also believed that security cameras on Iran’s big thoroughfares are used to look for missing people.
The public can report on uncovered women thanks to the” Nazer” mobile phone app provided by Iranian police.
