Following President Donald Trump’s request to take a 30-day peace at talks with the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, Russia is gearing up.
The mind of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, and John Ratcliffe, the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, agreed to maintain regular contact during a telephone call on Tuesday to discuss cooperation between their organizations, according to an article published on Wednesday by Interfax.
Trump claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and American officials may speak with them on Wednesday and that it was possible he had converse with them as soon as this week. Steve Witkoff, the U.S. ambassador, is scheduled to visit Moscow this year, according to Bloomberg News and earlier.
According to the Interfax media company, Moscow is awaiting information on the details of the deal reached in the Royal town of Jeddah on Wednesday and doesn’t rule out a call between Trump and Putin, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Any future fulfillment of the peace agreement between Russia and Kyiv depends now on Russia’s readiness to stop the massive invasion of Ukraine that it began in February 2022. Trump claimed to have” two to tango,” but the terms of the deal don’t fulfill Russia’s earlier promise to end hostilities. If Trump wants to secure his desired peace, that raises the bar for upcoming events in the U.S., and Russian engagement.
Trump’s campaign has been consistently brushed aside by Putin’s desire to put an end to the conflict. He stated at his annual press conference in December that” we don’t need a peace; we need peace that is long-term, stable, and has promises for the Russian Federation, its people, and the people of Russia.”
Leading authorities and another close to the Kremlin have echoed that claim.
Alexander Dugin, a political scientist in Moscow and a proponent of a” Russian World” philosophy, who has spoken on the X social media platform, said that Putin will not accept a peace without discussing long-term serenity. Trump said,” This day, it’s wrong.”
Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, reiterated that Moscow and the United States would not recognize the presence of soldiers in any capacity in Ukraine, including as soldiers. The large space that still exists on crucial points for conversations to end the conflict was highlighted by Lavrov’s comments in an interview with U.S. bloggers published on Wednesday.
Trump has stated his belief in Putin’s desire for peace on numerous occasions. Washington might be willing to give the Russian president a summit meeting with Trump in exchange for agreeing to the deal, which would welcome the Kremlin into the fold after past president Joe Biden’s leadership resisted making contact with their peers in Moscow.
According to American security officials, Putin has been making maximalist demands intentionally because he is aware that they will be inadmissible to Russia, Ukraine, and Europe, and that he is prepared to fight, according to Bloomberg News on Tuesday. Protection ministers from the European Union’s military allies, including France, Italy, Poland, the U.K., and Germany, were scheduled to meet in Paris on Wednesday to discuss help for , Ukraine.
Following a disastrous Oval Office  conference that turned into a shouting match between President , Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump, and Vice President JD Vance, Ukraine’s agreement on peace words brings Ukraine back into Trump’s great gifts. Later, Washington  suspended military assistance and sharing intelligence for Kyiv.
Poland’s Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, reported on Wednesday that the U.S.  , transit of military aid destined for , Ukraine , resumed after the ceasefire agreement. Washington  announced as part of the deal that it would lift its freeze on aid and intelligence-sharing.
Zelenskyy stated in a video message to Ukrainians that” Russia must show whether it is ready to end the war or whether it continues the war” and that “Ukraine is ready for peace.”
