
A lawyer representing the women claims that seven more women have filed sexual abuse claims against the , U.S. Coast Guard , as the repercussions from the assault incident at the , U.S. Coast Guard Academy , in , New London  continue to grow. Since September, 29 of these statements have been filed.
The allegations made under the Federal Tort Claims Act claim that officers at the Coast Guard Academy knew about and kept a pattern of physical assault and abuse at the club for years and that they did not take reasonable steps to protect cadets and future cadets from sexual abuse.
” Many of them have been physically devastated,” according to Christine Dunn, a companion at the Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight company representing the plaintiffs. They are still devastated to this day. They are receiving treatment for PTSD. It’s something that they carry with them every day.
According to Dunn, many of the allegations stemmed from a plan that forbade college cadets from locking their room doors. Women claim that they awoke to find female classmates next to them in many instances that are documented in the claims.
One former student wrote in her problem,” I told him I may cry if he did not get out of my room.” He threatened to let us both get into if we roar.

Yet though I had been assaulted, I knew I do face trouble for eating, and it was unlikely that anything would happen to my assailant. Since September, 29 ladies have filed lawsuits against the Coast Guard, all of whom are represented by Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight. The women claim that during the years of alleged abuse at the university, which the Coast Guard and other agencies failed to take seriously or handle in a meaningful manner.
The Coast Guard and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are the branches of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The U.S. Department of Transportation and its previous family firm, the , are also named in the issues.
The Coast Guard Academy , said in a statement on Thursday evening that it has not yet received the further claims and cannot discuss personal cases.

According to a review of the final document, it was stated that the administration was more concerned with the subjects of offences who were members of our service at the time, according to CNN.
Trials on the incident were held in , December 2023 , and , June 2024. The , U.S. Senate , Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, next chaired by , U.S.  , Sen.  , Richard Blumenthal, D-Connecticut .
Four former recruits told legislators that their own sexual assault at the university reflected a larger culture of violence at the hearing on December 2023.
At the time, retired Lt.  . Melissa McCafferty  said,” This is insidious, this is pervasive, and this continues to this day.”
Soon after he took office in January, President Donald Trump removed Coast Guard Commandant Linda Fagan from her position. Before Fouled Anchor went people, original President Joe Biden named Fagan, the first woman to lead a branch of the military service, to the position.
According to reports, Trump fired Fagan in part because of what one standard told , Politico , that the president has worked to get rid of in the federal government.
During the reading in June, Fagan received vehement criticism from lawmakers, with Blumenthal claiming that the Coast Guard had” a strong moral rot” that prioritizes” corruption over accountability and silence over survivors.”
Since Fagan left, Kevin Lunday, the acting commander, has been doing so.
” I’m hoping that this new commander may approach this matter with more clarity and that we will receive some answers and some accountability,” Dunn said.
The U.S. Senate passed a new license costs for the Coast Guard  in March that includes procedures aimed at preventing physical abuse and improving monitoring when it occurs. That act is awaiting passage in the house.
