Donald Trump ordered the deportation of all people of the Venezuela-based group Tren de Aragua on Saturday, as well as the president’s declaration on Saturday that the land was being invaded by them.

Trump stated in a statement that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his government are “undertaking hostile actions and conducting unusual war” against the United States. Tren de Aragua, which is now a U.S. designated criminal organization and was the target of considerable apartment raids in Colorado by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in early February.

Additionally, it mentions Venezuela as giving more of its land to aggressive groups, including Tren de Aragua, creating a “hybrid legal position that is invading and stealing into the U.S.

Trump then cited the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to direct the imprisonment of all gang-affiliated Venezuelans over the age of 14, citing them as a “danger to the common peace or protection” of the United States.

The statement reads,” I declare that all Cuban citizens 14 years of age or older who are users of TdA are liable to be apprehended, restricted, sealed, and removed as Alien Enemies,” according to the statement.

The Trump presidency was prohibited by the Alien Enemies Act from deporting five Cuban immigrants who had allegedly had ties to Tren de Aragua when a federal judge issued the order shortly after. A hearing is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and the leadership quickly appealed the decision.
