Was” touched” to learn about the stress and pain experienced by school activists?
The UN special rapporteur on the right to peaceful assembly and association stated to a Harvard Law School crowd on Tuesday that it needs to stand up for “free conversation principles” in the face of the Trump administration.
The school is also being pressured by Gina Romero, a Brazilian national, to “protect foreign students against repatriation threats,” according to The Crimson, who is an “expert in discourse, mediation, building, and managing networks.”
Colleges must determine on which part of this energy battle they will be, according to Romero. This organization is very effective. We’re not talking about a tiny, unproven school in a tiny, isolated location.
Romero ( pictured ) added that the police’s demolition of pro-Hamas encampments at American universities was a “bias” against black and Arab students.
She also criticized changes to the protest policies in schools and added that fear of deportation may produce foreign students reconsider exercising their right to free speech and assembly.
From the narrative:
Romero claimed that” I don’t see kids who fear going to a rally because they don’t want to be deported.” Colleges must first shield their unique individuals from those threats before putting pressure on themselves by external actors.
She continued,” In exercising your rights, coming to the university shouldn’t be a traumatic experience.”
Romero even discussed her own move from the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy to working for the United Nations at the Tuesday celebration. She described being given the task of special rapporteur and receiving instructions to investigate a number of possible human rights violations in the context of pro-Palestine protests.
She claimed that organizations had frequently maintained “double standards” in response to protest, particularly restricting pro-Palestine movements, in reports to the U.N. She cited “administrative restrictions” at institutions, physical abuse, and doxxing attacks.
Romero tweeted on Thursday that she was” struck to hear all the tales of” horrifying stress and trauma that Harvard students and staff members have experienced as subjects of”repression on freedom of expression and assembly.”
Thanks for the offer to the @Harvard_Law International Human Rights Clinic. Hearing all the accounts of the awful stress and pain that the entire suppression of the right to freedom of expression and assembly had caused in students and faculty members was heartfelt. …

Romero reminded her X fans earlier this month of the UN’s concerns about the possible punishment for those who “participated in the pro-Palestinian movements” at Columbia University.
