Secretary of State Marco Rubio referred to the embassy as a “race-baiting legislator” who despises President Donald Trump as the US is expelling him.
Since Trump cut US assistance to South Africa, relationships have slowed, citing criticism of its land plan and its murder case against Washington’s allies at the International Court of Justice.
In a post on X about the unusual barring of a world’s leading minister, Rubio wrote on Friday that” South Africa’s ambassador to the United States is no longer welcome in our great land.” “Ebrahim Rasool hates America and hates @Potus ( Trump),” according to Rasool.
South Africa said it regretted the decision, criticized it, and said it did resolve the issue diplomatically. However, it said it would continue to pursue socially beneficial relationships.
Rubio reposted a Breitbart content that the minister claimed Trump was leading a white nationalist movement, which he quoted from right-wing media outlets. A representative for the express division stated that he must leave by March 21.
