Amazon warned some Echo users last week that they had now consent to the company’s fog for control of their Alexa voice recordings. Users who had the Do Not Deliver Voice Recordings option turned on their Echo speaker or wise display received the email, which ensured that their commands would be processed directly on the device. However, as of March 28, this option will no longer be accessible, and all recordings may be processed at Amazon data centers, the company confirmed to TechRepublic.
Any Echo that is still activated after the cutoff date will automatically switch to Don’t Keep Recordings, which means message commands will be sent to Amazon’s cloud for digesting but then deleted. Any voice recordings that have already been saved will also be deleted, and Alexa’s words ID, a feature that allows users to create personalized responses based on their voices, will be impaired.
Amazon stated in its email that the decision to end the Do Not Give Voice Recordings environment was made to “enable Alexa’s capabilities with conceptual Artificial features that rely on the processing power of Amazon’s safe cloud.” This indicates that Amazon is improving its clever speech technology and voice education.

A spokesperson for Amazon reached out to TechRepublic for comment, and a spokesperson responded with a prefab statement that stated the organization is “focusing on the protection equipment and controls that our customers use most and function well with conceptual AI experiences.”
