In response to the two largest global economy ‘ growing trade disputes over Trump’s tax laws, US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Taiwanese counterpart Xi Jinping would probably be traveling to the US in the near future.
According to AFP, Trump stated at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts that “he’ll be coming in the not too far coming” while speaking about the Chinese head.
Leaders from both countries had started conversations about a possible summit in the United States in June, the birth month of both leaders, according to a report released last week by The Wall Street Journal.
Trump’s taxes plans have caused the two countries to become more and more intense. Trump imposed tariffs on big trading lovers including China, Canada, and Mexico after returning to the White House for the next day in January, citing business disparities and their insufficient power over lethal fentanyl supply. China expressed curiosity in a “dialogue” with Washington last year.
Trump earlier this month increased his earlier 20 percent public tariff on Chinese products to 20 percent. In reply, Beijing imposed tariffs of up to 15 % on a variety of American agricultural goods, including soy, bacon, and chicken.
China, a leading international metal producer, also pledged to take” all necessary steps” in response to the new steel and aluminum tariffs that have been imposed by the US.
In an effort to lessen the growing tension between the two world powers, Xi’s most recent trip to the United States took place in November 2023, when he met with Trump’s Democratic challenger Joe Biden in California.
