Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump both stated that they might have” something to say” about the US-brokered peace plan for the Ukrainian conflict on Tuesday.
” We’re doing quite well with Russia, in my opinion. We’ll check if we have anything to declare, perhaps by Tuesday. Trump stated to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday evening as he arrived at the White House, “I’ll be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday.”
Trump claimed that important work had been done over the weekend with an emphasis on putting an end to the war. He said,” Maybe we can, maybe we can’t, but I think we have a very good chance,” according to a CNN interview.
Trump claims that the agreements have already covered important issues, including power plants and area. He noted that” a lot of area is a lot different than it was before the war,” noting that discussions have also included the division of property.
The Kremlin confirmed last week that US diplomats would go to Russia for additional discussions, but it did not provide specifics about the group.
The focus now turned to Russia’s answer as a result of Trump’s statement that Ukraine had accepted a 30-day US-proposed peace. Putin first claimed that Moscow “in theory” agreed with the proposal, but he also put forth hard conditions and demanded concessions from Kyiv. He reiterated his long-standing claim that the government of Ukraine was a “root reason” of the conflict.
Putin added that he believed Russia was attempting to rekindle diplomatic ties with the US, which he claimed had been “practically reduced to zero, destroyed by the preceding American management.” He did acknowledge, yet, that” the situation is starting to change” under Trump’s management.
