The governmental agency is looking into staffs ‘ complaints, including injuries they allegedly suffered during the rally.
In a recent report, two Columbia University staff who were inside the building were told to fight their way out when pro-Palestinian protesters stormed it next spring.
Based on a problem to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, The New York Post provided new information about the April 29, 2024 rally this year.
According to the report, the governmental agency is looking into the objection made by Lester Wilson and Mario Torres, two judicial staff members at the Ivy League university.
Wilson and Torres claimed pro-Palestinian demonstrators” trapped” them inside the building, forced them to fight their way out, and suffered injury and emotional stress as a result.
According to the complaint,” Masked intruders obstructed Mr. Torres ‘ path at every turn.” Mr. Torres “had no thought that the employees of Hamilton Hall were zip-tying shut the exits while they were all the while.”
More is reported by The NY Post:
Rioters had moved vending equipment and zip-tied windows to obstruct the entrances and exits. Torres made the decision to fight his way through the rabble after realizing he had no other options.
One concealed rioter who had “violently” shoved Torres was threatened by the complaint,” I’m going to get twenty men up these f— you up.” Mr. Torres drew a fire hose from the wall to defend himself and said, “I’ll be correctly here.”
Torres was constantly struck on his back by another protesters during that fight. He finally discovered a way out that had been blocked by flap relationships and a motorcycle lock after repeatedly navigating to blocked-off escapes. One of the protesters cut the flap ties and let him out after hearing his requests.
Wilson had immediately attempted to flee after realizing the protesters were taking control of the city after being separated from Torres during the chaos. According to the problem, protesters regularly smashed equipment into him and pushed him as they fought to get out.
In the afternoon, authorities made more than 100 arrests and cleared out Hamilton Hall. According to the Columbia Spectator at the time, activists had smashed panels, broken through windows, and squatted in.
Additionally, the janitors claim that school leaders have allegedly ignored vandalism for good since 2023. According to the NY Post, “dozens” of graffiti were put up there to be cleaned of.
According to Torres ‘ complaint,” They were therefore offensive and Columbia’s silence was so unpleasant that he eventually started throwing away pencil that had been left in the schools so vandals wouldn’t have anything to write with.”
” But his officer reprimanded Mr. Torres for doing that,” he continued.
The two staff felt the officials could have tracked down the offenders because Columbia University required an electronic ID to enter Hamilton Hall, which is nestled on the college’s Morningside Heights school, and the tower was equipped with safety feeds.
They had called school security about the influx of racist, homophobic, and racist graffiti and concluded it was” no reason” Columbia University “investigated any of the occurrences” that had been flagged.
On one occasion, on December 6, 2023, Torres and Wilson witnessed masked protesters scurry through Hamilton Hall while chanting” From the valley to the sea, Palestine may become free” and other obscene painting.
In an interview with Fox News in May 2024, a unionist for the custodians described the demonstrators as” whiny, sort of entitled, spoiled, snotty occupants.”
The overall TWU workplace in the building was feared and rightly so, according to TWU International President John Samuelsen at the time. They stormed in, but two of the guards had to fight their way up. They were specifically instructed to say, “You’re staying here, you’re never going somewhere; this cause is bigger than you.”
