Major Democrats on the House Judiciary and House Management committees have submitted a long Freedom of Information Act demand, questioning whether the Trump administration’s DOGE Service is “operating outside the limitations of federal law,” the AP has learned.
Reps. Jamie Raskin of Maryland and Gerald Connolly of Virginia are seeking in-depth information about the DOGE Service’s authority to fire federal employees and demolish federal agencies, including Elon Musk, a Trump aide, and about 40 different individuals. Additionally, they want detailed information about DOGE’s access to sensitive de ta, how it uses synthetic intelligence, how its employees are trained, and how it communicates with Musk-held companies like SpaceX, Starlink, and Tesla.
In a text to Expand executive Amy Gleason that came with the FOIA demand, the Democrats wrote that” the presidency and Musk have hidden behind a veil of secrecy as they carefully destroy the national state of the US.” The American people need answers, and we’re using every means at our disposal to dig up the truth about DOGE’s activities. They want a reply within 20 days of the request’s prompt evaluation.
