Sudiksha Konanki, a student who has vanished from the University of Pittsburgh, is still alive, but authorities in her home do not believe Joshua Riibe, the next person to go find her, is responsible for her disappearance. US researchers are still pressing Dominican authorities to finish their investigation, though.
Konanki, 20, was last seen on March 6 in Punta Cana, Dominica, where she had been taking a spring break with companions. Before he intoxicated and lost record of her, Riibe, 22, claimed to have been with her on the shore and had shared a kiss while swimming in the ocean.
Although Dominican officials identified Riibe as a “person of attention” and seized his passport, Konanki’s family lives there, according to police from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia.
Is he somehow a part of this? We interviewed him, and he was very cooperative, according to Loudoun County sheriff’s office official Thomas Julia, who spoke to The Post.” And even if he’s not responsible in any way, and we don’t think he is, we’ve interviewed him,” said.
Julia acknowledged that Riibe’s memory from that day had become hampered by his own rumored near-drowning experience, which may have left him with memory gaps. You may have passed out when you’re in a specific state of mind after going through a near-drowning, he said.
How long did it take for Riibe to final see Konanki before he lost consciousness, according to researchers. Was it a time? It was hours, right? That also affects whether she had a chance to leave and finally vanished without his knowledge, Julia noted.
Authorities in Virginia are calling for the Dominican analysis to be entirely completed, despite the fact that they do not believe Riibe is involved. We may like to have all of the remarkable things, including devices, security, and any other unanalyzed data, finished, according to Julia.
Konanki’s families have also requested that Riibe’s case be stopped, citing the fact that he has been cooperating and that no evidence of bad play has been discovered. They also requested that officials declare their child useless, even though her body was never found.
There is no reason not to finish the research, so there is no lingering,” Oh, what about that cellphone?” Oh, what about that tape? Julia put a lot of emphasis on.
Konanki drowned, according to Dominican authorities, who initially believed her death but afterwards admitted no foul play, especially after her household raised concerns about possible abduction. Before her departure, Konanki and Riibe were filmed up on surveillance footage, but there are no conclusive findings.
Authorities on both sides continue to look into what actually happened that night on the Punta Cana sea while Riibe is currently under police watch in the Dominican Republic.
