After Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency ( FIA ) raid on a fake call center led to an unexpected looting spree, chaos erupted in Islamabad’s Sector F-11.
The improper operation supposedly run by Chinese immigrants was targeted by the FIA’s Cybercrime Cell in collaboration with intelligence organizations. As reported by the nearby Pakistani magazine The Nation, the raid effectively resulted in the incarceration of more than 20 people, including foreign nationals. However, it rapidly descended into chaos as locals swarmed the building and seized valuables. Instead of being carried away by unscrupulous looters, notebooks, monitors, keyboards, and other electronic products meant for analytical purposes.
Videos of young and old people making their way into the tower and systematically stealing from electronic products were available on social media. Huge crowds gathered inside, and despite the presence of law enforcement, the plundering persisted uninterrupted. Witnesses claimed that FIA authorities struggled to control the position, allowing the razing to continue unchallenged. Some foreigners connected to the swindling function reportedly escaped in the chaos.
The FIA’s resources, who were cited by The Nation, claimed that the organization had been aware of the call center’s illegal actions for some time but had sat back while awaiting approval from top regulators. The core allegedly engaged in defrauding people in various nations by employing Muslim workers to carry out defrauds and extort money.
The FIA company moved the people taken into custody during the attack for further investigation. The company has remained a tight-lipped about the larger investigation, declining to supply additional information despite numerous inquiries. The FIA is now criticized for handling the operation and failing to stop looting during what was intended to be a significant crackdown on foreign cybercrime.
