ICE Captures Immigration Activist Who Evaded Arrest for Years Hiding in Churches

Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) has taken immigration activist Jeanette Vizguerra into custody after years of evading federal authorities by finding refuge in churches. The 53-year-old Latino mother of four, who was once named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, was detained on Monday in the park bit of a Target in Denver.

Vizguerra had been a vocal supporter of the” Abolish ICE” activity in Colorado, consistently avoiding deportation despite numerous treatment orders. Former Denver ICE key John Fabbricatore, who followed her for 15 years, called her a “horrible and smug” crime who manipulated the immigration system. ” We’ve known her for years, and she’s been through the entire immigration process. Fabbricatore told The Post that” this lady should have been removed in 2009″.

According to the New York Post, Vizguerra is currently being held in captivity at an ICE detention facility in Aurora while awaiting deportation.

Vizguerra entered the United States improperly through Texas in 1997. Under the Obama administration, her constitutional issues began in 2009 when she was pulled through in Denver and discovered with a fictitious Social Security card that included her brand but the number of another person. She claimed she had no idea what quantity was owned by someone else.

She was found guilty of driving without a license or insurance only two months later. She was told to leave the land on her own, but she refused.

Vizguerra returned to Mexico in 2010 while appealing her treatment, but she eventually reentered the United States illegally. A year of probation was required as a result of being found guilty of an unlawful entry offense. In 2013, a second imprisonment order was issued, but the Obama administration put a stop to her treatment, allowing her to remain.

Her repatriation order was reinstated when Donald Trump assumed office in 2017. Vizguerra and her three youngest U.S. born babies reside frequently for three years in Denver’s First Unitarian Society Church rather than complying. She signed a contract with ICE that would have permitted her to depart for a business trip in 2019, but she rather chose to hide in another church.

Fabbricatore recalled that” She was supposed to go to the Denver airport the next day.” She enters another chapel and claims shelter there, completely breaking the agreement, she says.

Vizguerra later applied for a card, claiming she had been a victim of a murder, in an attempt to get legal standing. Her program was turned down.

She was once more deported until February 2024 when President Joe Biden took office. However, this year, ICE agencies finally caught up with her inside of her place of employment.

Mayor of Denver Mike Johnston blasted the arrest, citing it as” Putin-style oppression of political dissidents.”
